About
Alex Black is a Canadian image maker based between Paris and New York. With a background in marketing, advertising, and creative direction, she brings a strategic understanding of culture and audience to visual storytelling, translating brand identity into thoughtful, concept-driven imagery.
Having lived as both a chameleon and an outsider across different Western cultures, she learned to embrace novelty within the parameters of familiarity, balancing conformity with radical self-expression to question the status quo. The cultural themes in her work emerge from the intersection of the European and North American cities she grew up between, shaping a visual language informed by contrasting aesthetics and perspectives. Drawn to the subconscious and the unpredictable nature of perception, she explores abstraction and fragmentation to reveal what lies beneath the surface, finding tension between the familiar and the uncanny.
Through an intuitive, process-driven approach, she embraces experimentation to create bold, graphic imagery that elevates products and cuts through visual noise. Using light, colour, shape, and form, she crafts distinctive brand worlds that spark curiosity and leave a lasting impression.
